Riding from Port Hope’s Baluch Road Park – Friday, June 11

From your Friday Ride Coordinator, Brian Hedney:

After a ten (can you believe it’s been that long?) week hiatus, Uncle Doug is allowing us to resume our Friday rides.

Accordingly, here are the arrangements for this Friday, June 11th.

The ride will start from the Baluch Road park (see below) in Port Hope at 5:00 PM. Yes 5:00 PM, not 5:30 PM!

We will follow the Western Wanderer route which is posted on our Wonderful Website. Although it says 51 km, it is a kilometre or two shorter starting at Baluch Road, and there is no hill to climb out of Port Hope!. As you will see from the map there are numerous opportunities to further shorten the ride. This is our first time using the Baluch Road park.

There is lots of space, but very little shade (which should not be an issue for a Friday ride). It is also the location of the Port Hope dog park, but you will need to BYOD!

We will continue with last year’s fine apres-ride arrangements.

To get to the park, drive west on Marsh Road from Davis Independent for 700 m, then north on Baluch Road for 200 m. There is a map at the bottom of this post.

Call Brian at 905-373-3621 if you get lost!

We will start the ride by heading south on Baluch Road to Lakeshore Road, and then follow the route as outlined.

Bear in mind that Reopening Step 1 only allows for groups of ten, so we will need to “get creative” if we have more than that number!

  1. Ohhhhh how we have been waiting for this. I will be there riding and John will come for ‘afters’ for our distanced picnic dinner.

Thank you Ruth for putting this together and thank you Brian for the route and start point.

  2. We will have to pass this time – Franco has a previous commitment & I have a cold. That should help with the cap of ten !
    Would have been nice !

  3. I think I can make it. Looks like you don’t have 10 riders. Just got back from 2.5 days at Sickkids because Nolan broke his wrist.

  4. I hope you all enjoyed last night’s ride as much as I did – even the raindrops felt good 🙂
Anyone interested in looking after the ride this coming Friday, June 18th? If not, I will put something together. I should be back from my little camping trip by then 🙂
