Riding from Newtonville – Friday, July 17

Doug and Melissa! Nice shirt Doug.

Doug and Joanne are our hosts Friday for our ride starting at 5:30. If you have not joined a ride yet this season, please remember to print, sign and bring your COVID-19 Waiver and read the GFW response to COVID in the same document.

Doug and Joanne’s invitation is below.

Please park on Newtonville Rd in the Newtonville Carpool parking lot, just north of hiway 401 (exit 448).

This will be a leisurely 35km route, with options to shorten or lengthen it.

We are suggesting that you bring your own chair, food & drinks, for a short visit afterwards.

This start/finish spot is just a parking lot with no facilities.

Ruth plans to ride – Pete will be in transit so will likely not be able to join us.

Sorry, Doug & Joanne, but I am going to pass on this. I have a “stitched up” little finger as a result of a mountain bike mishap on Wednesday. The doctor did such a good job with it that I would hate to do anything stupid that would undo all his hard work.

Looks like an excellent route, is there any way in can be incorporated into the GFW cycling routes?

Great idea Irene – it truly was a lovely ride! At minimum, we can take a photocopy of the visual map and the cues, so that if you don’t have the GPS app, you can access it!

I have Modified and Refreshed the map and clarified the cue sheet.
We knew the route so we weren’t worried about the missing cues at the time.

If anyone is having trouble printing just drop us a note and we will print off a few copies.

I am so pleased that you all had such a good ride on Friday whilst I stayed home to nurse my finger (which, I am pleased to say, survived a mountain bike ride on Sunday :))
Since our July rides seem to be going so well, it is time to turn our attention to August! I am assuming that we will continue with our “start and finish in a park” format as it is both enjoyable and safe. Consequently, these rides are really easy to organize. So, right now we need volunteers to look after the August rides on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. Don’t be shy – step right up and volunteer to look after one of these “easy to take care of” rides. Either reply to this message or let me know directly (bhedney@gmail.com or 905-373-3621).
Brian and Katherine (who will take over from me sometime in August!)
