Cycling from Port Hope – Friday, July 20

Join us for the Barb and Mich Birthday Ride, hosted by Katherine. The ride starts at Katherine’s house in Port Hope.
Naturally, we shall follow Katherine’s Ride offering 52- and 36- kilometre options. However, if Sylvan Glen Road hasn’t been repaired by then we will have to make a minor detour near the end. BrianH will explain the change, if it is required, at the start of the ride.
Pot-luck to follow.

Cycling from Campbellford – Tuesday, July 17

Join Brian H. for our Tuesday ride in Campbellford. Note that above picture is from 2003, but it is  it’s a nice memory lane shot!

After arriving in Campbellford, cross over the bridge, turn right in 100 m at the second lights on to Doxsee Street, then turn right again in 100 m at the Free Parking sign. The attached map shows the Campbellford parking spot. You will actually be right behind the LCBO. Since there may not be a public loo on this side of the river you may wish to do your business prior to crossing over the bridge!

The cycling route is essentially the same as last year, with 49 and 30 kilometer options. The only changes are the start and finish loops in Campbellford.

Please print your own a copy of Two Rivers Tour map as Brian does not have a colour printer!

Lunch will be at Apollo’s Pizzeria, the same as last year. It has been ordered for 1:00 PM, on the balcony. The menu is to be found at: http://apollos.ca/menu.html. It is a 2-min walk from the parking location.

Also, the Campbellford pool is right across Ranney Street from the restaurant, and there is Open Swim from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. For $4.50 you can swim, shower and change there!

Cycling from Millbrook – Tuesday, July 3

Liz and Bob are hosting Tuesday’s ride from Millbrook.

We’ll start from the Millbrook arena behind the Pastry Pedlar at 10 and follow the Bethany Hills route which has 50- and 33-kilometre options.Tentative arrangements have been made at the Pastry Peddler for lunch.

Liz will plan to drive the route Monday to make sure the route doesn’t have any gravel. Hey teachers, maybe we’ll see you there to kick off your summer vacation.

Riding from Cobourg – Friday, June 22

Marianne is our host for this Friday’s ride from her home in South Cobourg. Her invitation is below.

Note: Please enter through my back door or garage NOT my front door. I have baby robins on my porch that I would not like to scare!

There is lots of parking along the North side of my and Franco’s properties.

Google Maps does not give correct directions. Here are the right ones:

  • Get to Brook Road North.
  • Just south of the train tracks, enter the subdivision using gravel entrance (left after train tracks if you’re traveling South from Elgin, right if you’re traveling North from Highway 2).
  • Turn left (North) onto Lonsberry and park anywhere along the long stretch opposite the apartment buildings.

And again, enter through my back door or go around to my garage.

We have 3 route options:

  • a hilly 53 km that takes us up to Cavan and Little
  • a hilly 38 km
  • a flatter 34 km option through Cornish Hollow

All start from our place and begin by climbing up to Baltimore. The routes split up in Baltimore, but come back together at Williamson Road, heading back home down Ontario Street through Cobourg.

Click on the image above for the downloadable map. We will also have written instructions for each route printed out for Friday.

Potluck will follow!
