Vivian and Harold are hosting Tuesday’s ride from the Mill in Cobourg.
The route will be Rice Lake Ramble. Please print map from website. Note change of start location from Cornish Hollow to the Mill just south on Ontario Street. This will add 2 kilometres to the route.
Yummy
Saturday’s ride starts at 11 am (not 10 and not 4!!!) from Franco’s whose address and directions/instructions are in Ride Calendar.
There are 3 rides of different lengths from flat 20km to hilly 34 and 50 km routes (maps provided at house). Pot luck will follow.
Hopefully the weather cooperates and this ride goes ahead!
With Sue as your ride leader, we will do the beautiful ride north of Trenton. Meet and park at the Bleasdel Boulder Conservation Area (take highway 33 North from 401).
We’ll have lunch in Trenton at the Riverbrake Cafe (same one as last year), maybe on the patio if the weather is nice.
Willy and Sue are hosting Saturday’s ride starting from the Minden Rotary Park starting at 10:30.
The Minden to Haliburton ride will be about 62 k. Option for a shorter 52 k route is available. Or a longer 82 k route. We can take a look at the Haliburton Sculpture Forest and have lunch at a restaurant in Haliburton.
There are some hills, nothing too bad. Parking will be at the Minden Rotary Park which is just off 35 Hwy to the left as you are heading north. It is just past the Kawartha Dairy Outlet. Hopefully the colours will still be beautiful at this time.
Occo is hosting Tuesday’s ride from his home in Haydon near the Long Sault Conservation Area. He has a 50-km route in store for you with options to shorten.
A pizza lunch will be provided. There is limited parking near the house (7 cars) and the driveway is long (0.5KM).
Let’s all hope for great weather and plan to join Occo for a ride.
Just got off the phone with Harold re: tomorrow’s ride. Weather forecast is looking not so great but he has a welcome home, a fridge full of burgers and a flexible spirit! Wednesday is challenging for a rain date, as he has a commitment in the morning. So . . . . how about rain or shine?
Will you please comment if you will make it to Harold’s tomorrow (Tuesday), rain or shine? As we know, the weather gods can be fickle – though threatening rain, they can be kind to us for a brief window to get some clicks in (especially when Brian H. is around). Worse case scenario, we’ll hunker down and enjoy each other’s company and a nice lunch.
And if you do plan to come, remember to bring a food bank contribution!
Katherine is hosting her annual Thanksgiving ride from her home in Port Hope. Parking is available on the road in front of her house, but also in the back. The ride will start at 5:00 pm led by Pete and Ruth who will take us West along the waterfront. We’ll go as far as the light and our legs allow, with the goal of being back at Katherine’s no later than 7:15.
As this is usually one of the best attended events of the season, Katherine needs you to confirm your attendance and mention what you’ll be bringing as your offering (and who if anyone as your guests!). In her own words:
If people want to bring family or friends, they are welcome. Bring standard dish / person, plates cutlery and appetite. Big bird acquired, but I could always toss in a supplementary bird if required. I only ask for an rsvp, so that I can somewhat plan accordingly…. looking forward to the annual tradition of far too much food, far too much laughter, and filling my house with my friends!
Here’s what she knows so far:
Katherine – Turkey, stuffing, gravy, pumpkin pie
Brian H. – cranberries (k makes as tradition for BH)
Barb – special spuds
John – something exciting
Anita – famous chocolate cake
Randy – ???
Ruth – hummus and crackers
Pete – purple cabbage
Irene – appetizer
Richard – ham and sprouts
Jen – rolls and butter
Deana – caramel apples
Neil – ???
Deb – Carrots
Harold – ???
Vivian – ???
Sharye – Salad surprise
Bess – Squash
Andy – Turnip
Jennifer – Cheese appetizer
Liz – salad
Bob – ???
Barry – Appetizer
Lilianne – Squash salad

Will you join us? What will you bring to add to our Thanksgiving table? Please comment! We look forward to celebrating nature’s bounty with you.
Let’s all cross our fingers for sunshine at Harold’s cyclocross event on his property in Castleton. Event starts at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Mountain bikes or hybrids with fatter tires than your road bike are recommended.
Harold’s providing the burgers – bring your accompaniments! And if you’d like to donate to our food drive, bring along an offering!
Willy is hosting Friday’s ride starting from the Cobourg Comunity Centre (CCC) at 750 D’Arcy Street. His invitation is below. Note two starting times.
There will be 2 starting times: the first one at 4PM with riders returning to the CCC, then restarting at 5:30PM for the next stage. The route is a short version of the Shelter Valley Shuffle. After-ride event to be determined. Lights required.
Remember to bring a food donation for our Thanksgiving Food Drive!
An eager group of riders join Bob & Liz last Tuesday for a challenging ride and excellent soup!
