Cycling from Peterborough – Tuesday, April 30

Join us this Tuesday at 10:00 am for a nice flat ride for the start of the season. Paul B. is your host – he will provide for riders a map and cuesheet for a simple ride from Peterborough’s Parkhill Bridge to Young’s Point and back. Map shows using the trail to Lakefield but riders can also use the road.

People can just go to Lakefield and eat and shop, or to Young’s Point and eat and shop at Lockside Trading or eat at the end of the ride. There is a restaurant beside the trail where we park at the Parkhill Street Bridge or some might go to Verona’s.

Starting location: Parkhill Bridge is at the corner of Parkhill and Auburn St. This is where the Greenway trail crosses Parkhill. You park on Auburn St. beside the trail. Below are two route options to get you to starting location.

Simplest: go up CR28 which becomes Hwy 7. Turn right at Parkhill rd. Go through the city and just east of George and Water St., cross the river. Immediately turn left onto Auburn St.

Faster route that doesn’t go through the city: Go up CR28 to Hwy 115. Go east on Hwy 115 to the end. There you will go straight ahead on Television rd. Go up Television road to Parkhill rd. Turn left. After passing Armour rd., go down the hill to the river. Turn right just before the bridge onto Auburn St.

  1. Peterborough’s Parkhill Bridge is unfamiliar to this Cobourgite but If I can find it, and if the weather cooperates, I plan to ride.

    1. Hey Klaus – just updated the calendar and the post with Paul’s directions so that we all make it to the same start location.

  2. Oh darn! We can’t make this one Paul. Mistakenly made an appointment on a Tuesday. Usually a never-never for us. Sorry to miss it.

  3. Richard will be cycling as it looks like the weather for Tuesday might be pleasant for a change. Not sure if we’re correct but noticed that there’s a Domino’s Pizza right by the starting point at 116 Parkhill Rd East, so the idea is to put that address into the GPS …. hopefully putting Richard at the right place at the right time??? 😊
