November & Early December Hikes by Brian

Your freewheeling host Brain invites you to walk with him in November and early December. Here is his invitation which many of you will have seen either through email or on the GF Facebook page. Please comment on this page if you plan to join the group for any of the walks

At the AGM on Saturday, a few of you expressed concern that have not been any Tuesday hikes thus far. It would seem that everyone is waiting for me to organize something 🙂 Since I plan to stay home for the next three weeks, I would be happy to organize three Northumberland Forest hikes on November 21st (tomorrow!), November 28th and December 5th. Here is what I have come up with:

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 21st Already done and it was greeeat!
Northumberland Forest Hike
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: Woodland Parking Area
Hike: Various distances available, varying from about 3 km to about 11 km. The longest hike will take in the two lookouts.
Bring: Drinks and lunch / snacks, especially if you plan to do the long hike

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 28th
Northumberland Forest Hike
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: Beagle Club Parking Area
Hike: This will be the last opportunity to hike some of the ski trails before they close for the skiing season. Various distances available, varying from about 3 km to about 11 km.
Bring: Drinks and lunch / snacks, especially if you plan to do the long hike.

TUESDAY DECEMBER 5th
Northumberland Forest Hike
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: Beagle Club Parking Area
Hike: Since the ski trails are now closed for hiking, we will head over to the trails on the north side of Beagle Club Road. More details to follow.
Bring: Drinks and lunch / snacks, especially if you plan to do the long hike

I am hoping to participate, lunch and such in my backpack…the weather looks almost too perfect…haven’t been to Beagle Club for a while.

Lilianne will be there for the whole gig. Barry will do a reasonably shorter distance.

I hike every morning with my dogs & realize not everyone loves ‘Em so won’t presume to bring them. Enjoy this beautiful morning.

Barb & John usually brought their “beasts” on our hikes in the forest, without complaints, as far as I’m aware, so…bring them along…just make sure they’ve signed the waiver.

    Hiking on Tuesday December 5th
If the weather cooperates we shall meet at the Beagle Club parking at 10:30 AM for a hike on the north side of Beagle Club Rd. Having said that, the forecast is not looking that good for Tuesday and the hike may be cancelled. If I decide to all it off I will make an announcement no later than 7 AM on Tuesday on both the GFW Website and the GFW Facebook page.

(update @ 7 AM on Tuesday December 5th)
      Today’s Non-Hike!
They forecasted rain, and raining it is! Although it is meant to stop late morning or early afternoon, I think it would be prudent to call today’s hike off. Hiking in the rain can obviously be done, but the enjoyment factor could be quite low 🙂
