Cycling from Newtonville, Saturday, September 21

Mark your calendars for this special ride hosted by Jennifer and Andy. Their invitation is below!

🐐

Please plan to join us on Saturday September 21 @ 10 am. We shall be meeting in the parking lot of Haute Goat, 1166 Fifth Line in Newtonville (just west of Osaca Road). We hope you like the idea of goat whispering, shmurgles or just looking at the alpacas, Nigerian goats and ponies on this lovely 200-acre farm.

Lunch after our Pretty & Easy 50 or 30 km ride will be in the intimate Screaming Goat Cafe where there is a yummy, tho’ small lunch menu. If you wish you can arrive early and pre-order your lunch before cycling this ride.

Cycling from Port Hope – Friday, September 13

Katherine is your host this Friday. Her enticing invitation is below!

Hi Everyone,

This Friday, we are riding from mine in beautiful little “It Ville”. Hopefully no clowns will be seen. Although we could have a screening of Friday the 13th… but that’s not likely either.

How about just a nice gathering of friends with food. Oh, and perhaps a ride. We are going to do the Osaca Odyssey as it is a little shorter, and has several options (46, 36 and 27 km) due to the decreased daylight. I will have some maps, but feel free to print your own or Ride with GPS.

Weather is sketchy at the moment… so, if it is raining, we are going to still PARTY and EAT, and enjoy each other’s company, maybe pull out a board game, and ya’ll can look at the new patio from inside! As always, please bring something relish, plates, cutlery, blah blah blah. BBQ is likely to be on and is efficient as well.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Cycling from Millbrook – Tuesday, September 10

Gail is hosting our ride out of Millbrook, followed by lunch at Moody’s on Tupper Street, the street across from the Pastry Peddler. They’re very accommodating and the menu looks great.

Gail is printing maps for all – it is a 49km ride following the Otonabee Twice route. There are shortcuts so that it doesn’t have to be 49km – most will know shorter versions of the ride.

See you on the hills! Cross your fingers for good weather.

Cycling from Newcastle – Tuesday, September 3

Doug and Joanne are back for a repeat performance, hosting this Tuesday’s ride! See their invite below and join us for our first September ride.

Meet 10am, ready to ride, at Newcastle Arena, 103 Caroline St. Newcastle, just north of the 401 off of Mill St.

The ride is about 50k, with shortcut options. We will have maps.

Venue for lunch has changed – we will eat instead at The Old Newcastle House Taps & Grill – 119 King St Avenue West, Newcastle.

We can eat at the Massey House afterwards.

Cycling from Courtice – Friday, August 30

Doug and Joanne are your hosts Friday for the ride that starts at 5:30. Their invitation is below and their address in the member directory!

Drive west, against long weekend traffic, this Friday and join us at our home for a lovely ride & pot luck. Doug will lead a quicker 40-50 ish ride & Joanne will do a mellower shorter ride.  We will have maps.

Remember your lights, as the evenings are getting shorter.

2nd Annual Veggie Car Race Ride from Cobourg – Saturday, August 24

First Annual Veggie Car Race Ride Hosted by Barb & John – 2018

Below is an invitation from Barb & John, who hope to get your early confirmation of attendance, so they can shop for veggie car parts!

It’s Veggie Car Race Ride time again! John and Barb are hosting the second annual Veggie Car Race Ride at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24th at their home near Cobourg (see directory for map and address). Ride route will be East Danforth.

First we ride, then we eat.  Food to be provided – pulled chicken or pulled pork tacos or sandwiches, salad, dessert – and then you’ll be singles or teams of two to build your ‘race car’ out of vegetables.

Here’s a YouTube video if you need an idea. And if you are on the GF Facebook group, you can get a sneak peek of the highs, lows and hilarity of veggie racing by watching some of the videos from last year.

Veggies, utensils and solid axel material will be provided. If you want to add anything exotic or bring your carving tools, have at it. Car building and racing to follow lunch. Non-riding spouses/partners welcome. Bring your own beverages.

Cycling from Garden Hill – Tuesday, August 20

Pete and Ruth are hosting Tuesday’s Bikes, Barns, Burgers & Beer ride from their home in Garden Hill. We’ll have printed maps on hand for the 47 km ride that can be shortened in kilometres, but not elevation. Alas, we live in an area with lovely hilltop views . . . so be prepared to climb a few hills and enjoy the many vistas!

We’ll provide hamburgers, veggie burgers and chicken burgers – you’re welcome to bring appetizers, salads and desserts!

We look forward to seeing you for one more summer ride!
